Golden 1 Credit Union Launches Annual Scholarship Program Opportunity for Students Seeking Higher Education

Applications available for eligible California students through January 2024
Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) is pleased to announce the application period is open for its 2024 Scholarship Program. Golden 1 will award up to $500,000 in scholarships next summer to eligible California students seeking higher education who exhibit excellence in academics, community involvement, work experience, and extracurricular activities.
The Credit Union’s annual Scholarship Program provides dozens of Golden 1 members and their dependents financial assistance, valued at up to $20,000 per student, to attend full-time accredited, nonprofit two-or four-year colleges or universities in California. To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have at least 24 hours of community service or 24 hours of work experience in the past 12 months, and be a Golden 1 member, or a dependent of a member. Dependents of Golden 1 employees are also eligible to apply.

Golden 1 has awarded more than $4 million in scholarships to nearly 500 California students since launching the program in 2013. Recipients range from incoming college freshmen to college seniors attending in-state colleges or universities. Earlier this year, Golden 1 awarded more than 50 scholarships to students throughout the state for its 2023 Scholarship Program.
“Golden 1’s scholarship program provides an opportunity to expand educational resources to California students,” added Taylor. “We encourage all who qualify to apply as they continue their educational journeys, and we look forward to watching these students become the next generation of leaders.”
