Updated biennial program designed to support youth in education, careers, and entrepreneurship
Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) today announced the application period for its Community Grant Program is now open with an updated multi-year approach. The revised biennial program now allows nonprofit organizations within the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys that promote educational attainment, career pathways, and entrepreneurship for youth and young adults to apply for a two-year grant.
“Golden 1 Credit Union is dedicated to being an inclusive and caring partner by providing opportunities for support that are aligned with unique needs of the diverse communities we serve,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations. “Our updated Community Grant Program will allow us to further help improve the financial well-being of underserved populations, creating brighter futures for generations to come.”
Since its inception in 2013, Golden 1’s Community Grant Program has awarded nearly $6 million in funding to nonprofits in the Sacramento and San Joaquin Valleys. The newly restructured biennial program focused on investing in youth academic success, career development, and other meaningful employment is based on key research that demonstrates these types of initiatives lead to better adult financial outcomes. This results in healthier, more financially well communities as well as financial certainty for nonprofit organizations.
The new multi-year grant structure will award up to $50,000 per year to nonprofits for programs operating from October 2023 through September 2025. The current application period is now open through August 25, 2023. Awardees will be notified in October 2023. Grant applications and guidelines are available at golden1.com/community/grants.
