Golden 1 Credit Union Provides Scholarships for Extraordinary Students

Awards offered to 46 students throughout California

Golden 1 Credit Union (Golden 1) announced $400,000 in college scholarships have been awarded to 46 students throughout California. Recipients range from incoming college freshmen to college seniors, all who will attend in-state colleges or universities in the fall, are stand-out academic students, and are actively involved in their communities.

“Golden 1 believes in investing in California’s future leaders, and we are proud to do our part to help them achieve their educational goals,” said Erica Taylor, Vice President of Communications and Community Relations for Golden 1 Credit Union. “Our annual scholarship program is one of the most important ways we give back to our members and the communities we serve.”

The Golden 1 Credit Union scholarship program provides credit union members and their dependents financial assistance, valued at up to $20,000 per student, for full-time students who plan to attend accredited, nonprofit two-year community colleges or four-year colleges and universities in California. Students received awards based on their academic achievements, community involvement, extracurricular activities, and education and career goals. Since the program began in 2013, Golden 1 Credit Union has awarded $2.7 million in total scholarship funding to 250 students.

“We continue to be thoroughly impressed by the quality of candidates who apply for our scholarship program,” said Taylor. “Over the years these students are consistently highly-motivated and determined. We see great things in store for this year’s 46 recipients and we wish them all the best their future academic pursuits,” added Taylor.

Applications for the 2020 Golden 1 Credit Union scholarship program will open in October 2019 and be awarded in spring 2020.
